Help build the society where law meets AI
SALS is a student society in Stockholm for students of law, who want to understand how AI and law shape each other.
§ 1About
AI already drafts contracts, screens job applications and supports decisions in public administration. The rules for all of it are being written now, and many of the people who will apply them are students today. We think lawyers should understand the technology. SALS is where we shape the future lawyers. Are you in?
Technology for lawyers
You don’t need to code. We explain how AI models are built, trained and used, so you can judge what they do and where the legal risks lie.
The law of AI
We study the rules that govern AI in practice. The EU AI Act, GDPR, liability for automated decisions and intellectual property in training data and outputs are all on the agenda.
Practical skills and tools
We want members to build, test and question legal-tech tools themselves. We also want to practise the kind of advice that clients and employers will soon ask for.
Old law, new tools
Centuries of law. A few years of AI.
§ 2Plans
Upcoming events
Four formats coming up for our members. Dates and details follow soon.
- Talks
Talks and panels
Practitioners, researchers and people from public bodies discuss how AI is changing legal work. Each session leaves time for questions and for meeting the speakers afterwards.
Upcoming - Hackathon
Legal-tech hackathon
Teams of law students get a weekend to design a legal-tech solution to a real legal problem. They then present it to a jury of practitioners.
Upcoming - Case
AI Act case competition
Teams advise a fictional client that is launching an AI product. They map its obligations under the AI Act and GDPR and defend their advice before a panel.
Upcoming - Research
Reading circles
Small groups read new judgments, guidance and papers on AI and law. They meet regularly to discuss them and write short summaries for the rest of the society.
